6 Roofs House Planimetric

Inspired by Cameron Wu’s Of Circles and Lines and Baroque Machinations, this project explores the role of animated parametric plan as a new medium for architectural analysis. The plans are derived from geometric relationships between the precedent and its contextual variables, which are parameterized and reimagined to produce, in Wu’s words:

“a higher mode of transformational thinking about architectural and geometric part-to-whole relationships that is not dependent solely on attributes of material plasticity for its legibility,” creating infinite dimensions to analyze architecture.

Using a custom Grasshopper workflow, a multitude of parallel possibilities can be discovered from a single floor plan.

The Precedent

The precedent is discretized to its individual and contextual components  — the rooms, rooflines, site vegetation and property line  — to begin to understand its geometric part-to-whole relationships.
