Osujikai-tsugi 大筋違い継ぎ
Japanese Joinery
Osujikai-tsugi is a decorative joinery used for finishing, for example, the exposed ceiling members. The joinery has two doublefaced halved rabbated oblique scarf splices with keys. The obliqueangles of the concave face and the protruding face are the same.
The two splices are identical. Male and female counterparts are assembled by sliding over each other on the longitudinal axis and inserting the keys from
top. The keys are two rectangular blocks and they have the same shape and they are inserted along their diagonal lines.
